The Mother Lode Trail 558 is a major connecting trail though the heart of the Bull of the Woods Wilderness Area. It connects with the Pansy Lake trail and Bull of the Woods trails on the North end and the Elk Lake Creek trail on the South end. The Twin Lakes trail joins it about midway. There are several really nice campsites along the trail. The trail Info Sheet does a good job of describing the highlights.
Mother Lode Mountain was named for the Mother Lode Mine nearby.1

Directions
There is no direct access to this trail. Refer to the Pansy Lake trail or Bull of the Woods trails for directions from the North end or the Elk Lake Creek trail on the South end.
