Small small world! The white bus in front is mine, a '69 Westfalia that takes me on many Clackamas adventures. Last week was up at Twin Springs. The video was taken by my friend Jasan on our way to one of our VW campouts. We've been having a Hunter's Moon camp at the Collowash and Elk Lake Cr every October, but now we've got to go someplace else this year...
We usually camp together every couple months. Our last trip was up at Hambone, we had 8 buses up there. In a couple of weeks a few of us are heading out to Middle Santiam. Nothing better than a bus in the mountains, high clearance and fantastic lower gearing. Plus I can fix the damn thing myself more or less.
Thanks for posting! Very interesting to see where familiar things pop up.

Bob,
I came across another set of photos which appear to be related to your group. I was doing a Google search for "Collawash" looking for photos and so forth and that's where I found all these things. Is that your white bus in these pics? Where do you camp when you go to the Collawash/Elk Lake Creek?
Man, if I had a bus, I'd go with you guys. I still drive a VW, but it's an 03 Passat with 4Motion, leather seats and all the bells and whistles. It just wouldn't fit in, would it? But I have fond memories of camping trips in my friends' buses (one bus was named "Betsy") back in the 60s and 70s.
Keep on keepin' on!!
Doug
Yeah that's me and the other goons. There are a few places to camp in that area, it's even not bad next to the trailhead. It's a little easier with the camper though. Where did you camp back in the 70s?
