Ever have one of those days where you write something and it makes perfect sense in your head and you read it later and think "What was I thinking?".  Well, that would be my last reply.   I meant to say it was in the correct general location, but it was the wrong trail.

Matt, as to your recent photo, I'm guessing that it might be Cottonwood Meadows trail?  In the spring when it is really green and swampy.

We've all had those days. Half of what comes out of my head is gibberish so you are already ahead of me. I guess that means we have two photos to figure out then!

I'm going to guess Riverside Trail, then. I've only ever done it in the winter.

As per my photo, this is quite a ways from Cottonwood meadows (never even been there - is it cool? It's on my list for the summer). I'm not completely sure it's in a wilderness area but at the least it borders on one. I'll give you one hint - it's a connector trail. As in, it's part of an established trail but not on the main trail itself - it connects to the main trail from a slightly different location.

For the photo I posted, Riverside trail isn't correct, and you are getting farther away from the correct trail.

Cottonwood meadows is neat, especially if you do the cross country route to the lower part of the trail (assuming you start from the upper trailhead).  That forest down there is pretty virgin and beautiful.  The meadows are nice, although very wet (and full of mosquitoes) in the spring.  There is supposed to be an explosion of wildflowers in the spring, but I've never been able to time it right to see them.

Is your photo somewhere in Cache Meadow?  Could it be the connector trail "X"?

I'm going to say then that your photo is either Hillockburn or Dry Ridge. I haven't done either but those are the only two I can think of in that area aside from the ones I already mentioned that get hiked in the winter. I'm going with Dry Ridge just because I can't think of what else it would be.

As for my photo, I'll give you another hint: think large lakes and think popular trails. Also, think the edges of the district. This one is at the very edge of the district, though if I say the direction it will be a dead giveaway.

Matt - you are correct, that was a photo on the Dry Ridge trail - It is crossing a creek about two miles up.
