D 2 your in the ballpark, but it isn't the Cottonwood Meadows Trail. Hint: it is in the Roaring River Wilderness and is a current trail.

Is that the marshy area on Rimrock near the beginning of the trail?

Bingo! We have a winner. It was a peak through the trees prior to the crossing of the pond/lake on the west end of the Rimrock Trail. Your turn to post one Rob.
