Not only are there fine far-ranging views very close to this lake, you do not need to to climb a peak to see them - just keep on the trail.

Would that be the lake on the way up to Pyramid Butte?

Nope, and your try is far afield. The lake location is within the scenic area, and just inside the Clackamas River Drainage. And it is north of the trail involved.
