Man, I really need to get out in the woods again! None of these photos look familiar!
Hmmm, a steep side slope with the trail heading downhill, where have I seen that before?
Western hemlock in the picture - it drops out at 4-4500 ft. That includes most of the district. And no Pacific silver - it starts to appear at the same elevation range, so I'd guess below 3500 or so.
Just to pursue a wild guess: downhill to the left before long is there a broad flattish valley, or is it a long continuous drop straight to the stream?

Just to clarify, it was the log that kept coming down the hill, not the trail.
The trail does start off with a precipitous slide of a trail.
You aren't talking about Dickey Creek are you? That one certainly has a "precipitous slide" at the beginning...
I was worried that clue might precipitate a quick solution.
You are the new winner!
Now you get to find a picture. Maybe from a water hike. Is there a following for rain only hiking? For water lovers?
They say a dark soggy cold woods are neat, but I don't recall ever seeing any hikers in those conditions.
