Is it the trail to Janus Butte? Although I don't see any lakes on the map.
125 years old. White man trail right? Miners.
South end 544 but then an abandoned link and then towards Pansy and down to Bagby is about that old on maps any way.
So I am guessing it's a pool in the Mother Lode Country.
Never having been there mind you.

Your deductions, Watson, are correct and you have identified the trail in question, so you are forgiven not pinpointing the exact location along the many miles this trail runs.
The nearby lake is Pansy. The unnatural feature is Bill Bagby's larger mine shaft at his Consolidated Pansy Blossom and Lily Mining Claim. You can see this lake as a shrunken brown Summer remnant on Google Earth or Maps half hidden in the mid-morning tree shadows.
So your turn!
So what is the least visited lake to the west?
I know little about the mining activity and lost trails in BOTW, is there a good resource for this stuff? It's somewhat forgotten.
You guys are pretty good at this stuff, most of these pix really stump me. Especially since you've gone into the lost stuff.
