I have no idea where this might be, but you have me interested to find out.

I assumed the seedlings on the left were the same as the plant in the middle.  Do you think this plant is Chelone glabra, or is it Nothochelone nemorosa? Do you know if it's a native or a naturalized plant in our neck of the woods?

Is the location in this photo near a body of water?

The Notochelone is a fairly common Cascades forest native that occasionally shows up in open meadows. The two plants in the picture may be the same, but I would't swear to it on the basis of this picture.

The nearest lake is about a mile away or more as I can't remember exactly where along the trail I took this. The trailhead, such as it is, is about 3/4 of a mile from the lake. This area shows several streams on the map but I've never seen water in any of them.

Unfortunately my camera broke after taking this picture and I never got one of the whole rock.

Clue: the trails in this location were not abandoned because of roading or budget cuts. The trail which formerly headed north from the destination of the trail in question, has suffered from a high erosion rate and I've yet to spot it. I've not looked for it since I found out that a trail was once there. You would have several miles of defacto wilderness on that trail once you found it.

Your comments leave me more and more interested in this mystery trail.

Are there roads near it?  I need some other clues to begin guessing.

I'll just throw out a wild guess and see if the lake is Surprise Lake (the one in the Fish Creek drainage)
