I didn't realize unto this evening as I was reading the Sunday Oregonian that Tom Mossman from Molalla died from his injuries from a vehicle hitting him as he was riding his bicycle on Hwy 211. I didn't see a picture of him until tonight and recognized him from saw class.
We were on opposite end of a crosscut saw during our annual saw certification class we take with the FS. He was a volunteer with the Oregon Equestrian Trails group that worked on the PCT and other horse trails in our district. I had seen him during the last couple of years certification classes, but this was the first time we really worked together. He was a kind man and I hope that I would be as fit as he was when I will be his age, he was 67.
We lost one last week. Most of those who work the trails are retired or close to it, with a few exceptions. If we don't get an influx of younger volunteers in the next 10 years, good luck on hiking as we know it.
Don
I didn't realize he was in the equestrian club. I have seen and appreciated their work, and have an acquaintance in the club too. May he rest in peace.
