With the new wilderness areas in our district and with changes out on the trail we have experienced this year, will those who do the work out on the trail continue to do so. With all this green energy being injected into our district, you would think our district office would be overflowing with volunteers to come out and help with the trails. I for one haven't seen anyone ask to take the saw or Mcloed out of my hand to help with what I was doing, only a occasional thankyou.

I know of only a handful of men and women who work on the trails in this district on a regular basis, and there numbers seem to be declining. You who hike the trails in our district, can you give a day or a week of your time to help maintain the trails you hike on? Even if it is just knocking limbs or rocks off the tread, or pruning back some vine maple or huckleberries on your favorite trail, every little bit of effort can make a difference. Or if you want to really get involved, register with the Forest Service and they will help you in your volunteering effort.

Thank you.
