I am sorry that you have chosen one of our worst district roads to travel for your first experience in the Mt Hood Nat'l Forest. I can't say how the conditions are right now , for I haven't been on this road since last fall. All that I can say is be careful of the potholes, they are deeper then you think.

What made you choose the Corral Springs as your first hike in our forest? Was it access to the Roaring River Wilderness Area or from the recommendations  of  someone else? All that I can say is that I enjoy everytime I wander into the Roaring River area. I can only hope that your hiking experience will be much better than your driving experience.

4610 is getting close to awful...lots of deep watery mud potholes.  Also the area has a lot of ATV damage.  It IS beautiful country though, just be prepared for this.  The trails down into the Roaring River are few and far between, and don't have the best maintenance due to the light use.

Maybe that was their foot prints in the snow in Turner's picture at Lookout Springs?
