It looks like the fire is headed towards the Hillockburn trail now. 

Hopefully it will just miss Hillockburn.  The report this afternoon said they are expecting it to spread 1/8 mile north and south of its current location, but the rain predicted (they said 3/4" this week!) would improve the situation drastically.  Sounds like they cut some pretty drastic fire lines along Hillockburn road - that will be interesting to see as well.....

You should take a look at some of the photos on the inciweb site.  They are interesting - showing planes dropping fire retardant, etc.  And one aerial view which I'm not sure where it was taken - but it showed a pretty burnt area - kind of looked like an old clearcut.

Anyone recognize this area?

I copied the address from the broken link placeholder, thinking I could at least backtrack from it, and the picture showed up! Maybe you you have an incorrect character in the code.

By the look of it, I'd guess its a recent cut which hadn't yet had the slash burnt off. So they went ahead and torched it as part of Fire Operations, as the pix is labeled. There is a just bladed out road/firebreak (dirt showing not gravel like the rest of the roads) at the top. I've checked to see if I can match the roads but I think the roads may be newer than my map.

I'm pretty sure that's the spot fire that was up by Fall Creek Road. The North Fork is on the right edge of the photo.
