I was suprised they left the asphalt, that isn't going to deteriorate anytime soon. They have removed asphalt on several portions of roads in the district in the last couple of years, to name a few that I am aware of: 6310, 5410, and 4671. Seems strange, they removed asphalt on roads that they are keeping open, but leave it on a decomissioned road.
