I enabled (forced actually) logins to occur over HTTPS (secure protocol) as another security measure. The site has what is called a "self signed" certificate, so when you try and login, you will get a warning. This is OK for this - it was cheaper to do a self signed certificate (free) than purchasing a signed certificate.
I'm doing this to see how it works. If you have trouble logging into the site after this change, please send an email to webmaster@trailadvocate.org.
I know this is kind of a pain, but I'm trying to keep the site safe from hackers. Enabling this option means logins and passwords are not being sent unencrypted, which is much more secure.
This was no problem. I clicked through a couple of screens, let my login be auto entered, logged out and back in. It now lets me in without any more warning screens. If my Windows side behaves any different I'll let you know.

Here are a few screen shots to show what you need to do in order to get past the security warnings. I only have these 3 browsers, but hopefully it illustrates what needs to be done in order to get logged in.
In IE, you will see this warning:
If you click the "Continue to this website (not recommended)" link, you will be able to login.
In Firefox, you will see this warning first:
If you click the "Permanently store this exception" and "Confirm Security Exception" on this box, you won't be prompted anymore.
Lastly, if you are using Chrome, here is what you will see:
If you click the "proceed anyway" option, you will be able to login.
I don't know if this will be a permanent thing for everyone or not, but security is becoming more and more important. So, for the time being, this will be in place.
Well, after a bit of poking around, I was able to find an "official" certificate for only $15/year, so I went ahead and did it. I figured it would save a bunch of headaches.
You shouldn't get prompted for any security errors anymore. The secure login should be pretty invisible to everyone now.
