I just scanned in an article I got from Kirk from Northwest Magazine dated June 27th, 1982.  It is about the construction of the Clackamas River Trail.  It is a short article, but it is rather interesting.  I linked to it from the historical items page, and also put a link on the Clackamas River Trail page.

Thanks, Kirk!

My Dad gave this article to me. He'd had it in his files for years. It's kind of hard to read, but if you magnify it enough you can make out all the words.

I just learned today that The Oregonian has finished digitizing it's back issues and can be accessed on line with a library card. I assume a Portland library card since that's where the source of the information live.

It could be very informative to look back into the teens and twenties for trail info.

I believe Southern Pacific owned the water rights when the country was being cruised and scouted and were involved developing access.

And the west boundary was one township east so there would be a lot of west side news.

Where did you hear this?  I googled for it to see if I could see any info, but didn't find anything. I would be curious to know more about it.

Rob,

I just got back from the library with my new Multnomah County Library card and I've been digging in - this is a great resource - not only scanned images but searchable text. This is going to be worse than television.

Thanks, Donovan, for the heads up...
