District map page updates

We are nearing another milestone for the site.  The district map page now has all of the "official" trails in the district mapped out with actual GPS track data to show the actual route of the trail.  There is only one trail that is not fully documented - the Schreiner Peak trail - that trail is missing the short trail down to Lake Lenore, but is otherwise complete.

All trail pages now have elevation profiles, GPS tracks and links to maps showing the actual route of the trail.

Here is a http://www.trailadvocate.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/MHNF-ClackamasDistrictTrails.km z" target="_blank">link to the district trail map showing all of the trails in district.

If anyone finds any errors or discrepancies, please email webmaster@trailadvocate.org with the corrections.

Thanks Rob!  I really appreciate how much time, effort and money you've spent documenting the trails and providing these nifty tools for us to use.

Bummer, I did Schreiner Peak yesterday (up from a ridge east of Pine Cone Creek) and returned on Welcome Lakes - of course I went right by the trail to Lake Lenore. I considered a visit to the lake but was worried about weather - wish I'd known you needed the track. Gives me an excuse (as if I need one) to go back out there.

I concur with Kirk, the trail guide you've done is the best resource there is for Clackamas District trails.

Thx,

Thank you both.  I enjoy updating things here and there was quite a treasure trove of information to begin with.  I've just supplemented it with things I can do.   It is truly a labor or love.

Paul, that is too bad - I think the existing track is one from you!  I was planning on doing an "epic" hike up to the lake and then try and follow the old trail up to Shreiner peak sometime this month.  I'd like to see that track you did - that is an interesting approach and certainly a LOT of elevation!

Attached is the GPX file from yesterday's outing. I stayed off the ridge and Knob due to paranoia about the weather. I saw one short (30') piece of what might have been trail bench coming off Schreiner - I think in general the trail to Schreiner is gone. Google Earth has imagery of the area from July of this year for this area so you might want to load the GPX file in there. I'll post a report somewhere.

I did follow the short piece of the Janus Butte Trail that runs down to Elk Lake Creek - did not cross to see what is on the other side.
