There is a small area of high alpine flora up there. Krumholz type stuff.

I couldn't remember that exact tree, but I remember ones like it south of Mount Lowe. Hence it was a guess.
The long-abandoned trail in this picture crosses this valley just in front of the isolated Alaska cedar that is left of center. By this point the trail is already within the Wilderness area.
You can see high-water-mark horizontal-oriented woody debris in the foreground.
