Byron's name jumped out at me when I opened the Oregon City News this morning.

Is Pete your brother, or is it just a coincidence that you're both mentioned in the same news story?

Well I suspect all Boyces are related if you go far enough back in Scotland.

Like many news stories they often manage to get something wrong - like my first name.

And don't worry about the "a resulting flood could then drown several square miles" part - any flooding will be quite local.

What's astounding in this story is Union Pacific saying there is no problem when the pier on the Oregon City side is in daylight five feet back for the entire length with nothing but loose river rock under it.

Bryon,

I know what you mean about news stories usually getting something wrong.  It seems that whenever I have had first hand knowledge about a story in the news there was quite often a discrepancy with the facts.

Sorry I spelled your name wrong in the first post.Embarassed
