Product Description

This is a story about a 17-year-old boy who is working the summer of 1945 on the suppression crew for the Forest Service in the Mt. Hood National Park. It is a race between being drafted to help invade Japan and the finish of World War II. He really doesn't want to invade Japan before he has invaded some lady — to taste the sweet mysteries of life and love. In the meantime, he finds dangers, real and imagined, in fighting forest fires, in trying to understand the opposite sex, and finally coping with the antics of his fellow crew members, the Red Hats.

Recieved the book in the mail yesterday.  Wow!  A great read and full of 40s USFS history.  It's written in a very fresh style and is very easy to read.  A lot takes place in Zigzag district and some down in the Clackamas too.  How did we miss this one?

Lots of screwing around with teenage girls too, be warned if you blush easily.  Yer ma may see ya and wonder what is up.
