Cole Gardiner, mentioned in the "Clackamas Big Bottom Trips" article, is still active and advocating, as he is fond of putting it, "for the fish and wildlife, not the agency, but the critters". He is a board member of the Clackamas River Basin Council, and I see him monthly at those meetings.

We have added all 4 articles to our historical archives. Thanks very much for posting these!

I will also get a copy of the article on then-proposed hydroelectric projects to PGE, who now control all such projects in the Clackamas Basin. They will be interested in it from a historical viewpoint. The Big Bottom proposal demonstrates how little awareness there was of natural resource values at that point in time. The fact that what would have been destroyed in Big Bottom is now a Wilderness Area demonstrates how far we have come since.

This is very cool to hear!  It all started with a camp trip with Don, looking for old history.  I wrote about it on the Green Cascadia blog, then Gene was nice enough to provide me with all this great information.  Another piece of the puzzle in a very dynamic world.  I hope more of these guys come forward before the past is gone for good.
