I have been finding filing stuff at antique stores for quite a bit less than e-bay for the last year or two now.
Craigs list is the place to round up saws. There are a few dreamers out there, but many are reasonable.
If your saw is way out of joint, probably ought send it to Jim for a once over and then you can keep it in joint with the little jointers.
Kinda want to ride over to Layfayette and check out Don's Tools.
Side 1 all cleaned of rust down to shiny metal. After starting on side 2, I found the original marker's mark! It says:
Henry Disston
Spring Steel
Xtra High Temper
Four Gauges Thinner on Back
NEVADA
Recommended for fast cutting
Philadelphia PA
I'm guessing 20s-30s vintage.
Received my nice restored Western handle from Jim's Crosscut! Time to get busy on that saw.
