I was out today and decided to stop at the Sounds trailhead to see what I could find.  I did find the trail (sort of), but it is in considerably worse shape than it was the last time I was down there.  It looks like there has been some slide activity, but worse is the weeds and brush - I could see a bit of tread but it was absolutely covered in weeds and brush.

The short answer is it appears the lower section of Sounds is pretty much gone now.  If you pick it up above the powerline corridor it wasn't it too bad of shape last time I saw it though.
