Reopening

I've been in touch w/ ODOT and the Forest Service. They are targeting end of spring/ early summer before the highway is opened back up. PGE says they will be ready to open up Hole in the Wall & Moore Creek as soon as ODOT is ready.

ODOT is only responsible for 224 (up to Ripplebrook). I've not heard anything concrete for where it turns to 46 and on to Detroit.

Wow, that will be like 8 or 9 months.  They reopened 22 in less than a month.  But I can't say I'm surprised.  I wonder if/when road 45 will reopen - either the Hillockburn end or the end by 224 (the one that has been closed since the 36 pit fire).

Thanks for the info.

MHNF has added this statement to their website:

Hwy. 224 is CLOSED just past Promontory Park probably until mid-summer 2021. The Hwy 224/FR 46 corridor experienced many areas of high fire intensity and has many areas full of hazard trees and hillsides likely to give way.

Ugh!

One glimmer of hope I saw is that the Olallie Lake resort is planning to open, although much later than normal.  According to their website, they are planning to open July 2nd:

https://www.olallielakeresort.com/

That would imply that they expect the roads to Olallie to be open by then.

My fear is that 224 will re-open but they won't have done anything on 46 so you will be stopped at Ripplebrook.  I guess time will tell.  It appears we have a while longer to wait.....
