Yesterday the fire was reported as 385 acres and this morning it got reported as 387 acres, but another map shows it as 513 acres. If the first estimate is accurate, that is a good thing - it isn't growing much. It does appear to be mostly growing to the south, but does appear to have burned at least a portion of the Thunder Mountain trail as of now.
The sandstone fire update from today showed the fire at 696 acres and 10% contained but it sounds like the fire isn't really growing at this point and they seem to have a good handle on it. Unless the lightning from today sparks something new, the rain today should really help out. Hopefully it will continue to be good news.
It will be interesting to see what things look like up there. It sounds like the 7010-160 spur up to Baty Butte got all brushed out and they've cut dozer lines in a few places - wondering if they used some of those old roads to do that. Also wondering if maybe they did some work on the Baty Butte trail - it sounds like they used at least a portion of it.
